Most restaurants in Alberobello make their living off of the unfortunate mass tourism that has transformed the area in the past decade. L’Aratro is a welcome alternative, serving meticulously selected cheeses, cured meats, and wonderfully simply durum wheat pasta dishes. The owner is also a sommelier and prides himself on using Slow Food regionized products in his menu.

Passed through Alberobello for lunch, stopped into this restaurant for a meal. We shared the cavatelli pasta and grilled sausage. The pasta was pretty average, the cavatelli pasta itself wasn't really cavatelli, it was some other overcooked pasta shape and the sauce was very watery almost like a soup. The taste wasn't there either, quite disapointing. The sausage was fine, but at a price tag of 20 euro was a bit of a joke for what was on the plate.

Cosy spot, top tier service, well catered to allergies and freshly made pasta! Finished off with a delicious ice cream dessert and some sugar & cinnamon coated almonds too

We had an unplanned visit here and must say without any hesitation that it was one of the best meals we have had in southern Italy over the last week. The service was excellent with very friendly and knowledgeable waiters. Moreover, the owner unprompted was very gracious to stop by and offer his fabulous own branded olive oil. The highlight was the amazing home-made ice cream with almonds. Truly spectacular. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Please don’t miss it if you are in the Alberobello area. Best

We stopped here for lunch. We didn’t have a reservation, but they took us in. We had local white wine, cheese platter and two main courses. We weren’t wowed by the taste of the food. It was OK, but nothing special, especially not for the price. Service and atmosphere were great!

This is the best restaurant in Italy I had so far. It is even better than restaurant in Naples and Rome. The antipasto is unbelievable amazing !!!! 10 dishes for only $27 Euro, each is only $2.7 ?! Crazyyyyy good value. To be honest, we didn’t know that at beginning, so when they sent us first 4 plates, we were like not bad for $27, then 6 plates came, we were surprised and fulfilled then 8 plates came, we started to worry if we order something wrong which may cause $100 Euro, then we asked the waiter and make sure we did the right order and there were two more plates coming. We really shocked by the good value of money and all plates tasted amazing like Fine dinning level. To be honest, for only the 10 plates antipasto, we would pay $100 AUD each in Sydney for a fine dinning restaurant. Unbelievable amazing restaurant, definitely the No.1 restaurant in Italy I ever had.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all very fine. The food is just overpriced. You pay extra for being in such a touristy area. I wish we had eaten in a smaller town on our way home.

The sampled meat was very juicy and tasty. And the tiramisu is so creamy and satisfying. I like them served the dessert with the meal. We visited in a hot summer day, the desert saved us…lol I’m sure you can ask them to serve dessert after meal if you prefer. For seating, the newer room has very strong air conditioning, so comfortable in a hot day. If you’re for the eating in tulli experience, ask to seat in the main room.

Food was delicious and Dominic was a fabulous host. We had the local appetizer with 8 different small plates. Then the seafood dish and is was all delicious. Not sure how you wouldn’t rate this anything but a 5 or better. We had 8 people in our party and the service staff was excellent.

Yelp
What a beautiful town built on Truli houses in Alberobello! Such a dream to be able to see this part of Italy! L'aratro is tucked inside the streets, we decided on this restaurants as they are recognized by Michelin. We are glad to be trying this authentic local restaurant. Flavors that are so different from other parts of Italy! We tried the different anti pasta, which is served on multiple plates, small bite sized tasting. I can't tell you what each dish was, but can say they each had its own flavor. Several different cheeses, a bacon wrapped cheese, a polenta-like biscuit. For entrees, we tried a mixed grill meats (arrosto misto, with bombette - all local pork, seafood with wheat (grano con frutti di mare), and a cavetellucci. For dessert, also tried a very local dish with fried figs and a tart made of wine. The flavors are all so different. Certainly a must try if you get to come to Alberobello!

Yelp
This was our first night of 3 nights in Alberobello and we found this gem of a restaurant thanks to Laura of Tipico Trulli ..the service was out of this world, the ambience of eating in the Trulli room was so incredible and the food DELICIOUS! My wife had the Fricelli Calvolfiori E Pom (local wheat pasta, cauliflower, red onions and tomato. I had the Filetto Di Spinoza (sea bass stuffed with local cheese and other good stuff). FANTASTIC MEAL. We would come back tonight except they are closed so will return tomorrow for our third and last evening here. For desserts wife had Pan Cotta which was like a white flag with caramel sauce and I had some pudding type dessert with crispy fig chips..BOTH OUTSTANDING. Almost forgot the pre-dinner bread/pretzel basket with some other spongy soaked with olive oil and tomato bread. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience. In the fairytale setting of Alberobello, we happened upon this gem, and decided to dine here after seeing this restaurant highly rated on Yelp. We didn't reserve so we had to wait 25 minutes for a table, but it sure was worth it. We started with a wonderful assorted appetizer plate full of apulian delicacies, from ricotta (primo sale) to coppa (caciocavallo) to delicious fuori di zucca. The plates kept coming and each dish was more delicious than the previous one. Service was friendly and efficient. The pasta dishes we ordered for 'primi' were delightful. Orecchiette with cine di rapa for my wife and orecchiette with ragù of frizzl for two of my kids. A couple local red wines (rosso di Troia and a primitivo) complemented the food well. The owner came over towards the end of the meal to make sure all was well. Two big thumbs up.

Yelp
Terrible place, terrible people. They open at 12 pm and we were waiting since 11am for them to open. My sister had a heatstroke and was sitting next to their store and they came out to tell her to get off because they are a restaurant. Meanwhile, they let the two Italians beside us to go inside and wait.

Yelp
We had a late dinner here when we could not get a spot at other restaurants. They can handle large groups and had some nice variety. Oriechette pasta with tomatoes was good. A very. NIce negroamaro glass of wine. Wife had the favs bean paste with sauce and small pastas on top. A regional speciality

Yelp
Great Food! The food here reminded me of a home cooked meal from my Nona. The servers were very nice and accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
